RCMP find secret compartment in vehicle with $4M of drugs inside

A 38-year-old is facing several charges in connection with a drug bust by the Halifax detachment of the RCMP.

In a press release, police detail how its street crime enforcement unit seized “a large quantity” of drugs and laid charges against a Dartmouth man for drug trafficking. The investigation started in September, after officers discovered transportation of cocaine into Halifax Regional Municipality.

Gathering evidence, officers were able to identify Exile Antonino Sandulu as part of the drug operation. They started monitoring his movements.

On Sept. 29 police stopped an eastbound Nissan Quest driven by the accused on Highway 104 in Colchester County. Within the vehicle, officers said they found 40 kilograms of cocaine and about 10,000 counterfeit oxycodone pills in a hidden compartment.

The street value of the cocaine and pills is estimated by police to be around $4 million.

Sandulu is charged with two counts of drug trafficking. He was released by the court and is scheduled to appear to face the charges on Dec. 12, RCMP said.
