Emergency Alert test scheduled for Wednesday

Nova Scotians can expect a test of the national Alert Ready system this week.

The emergency management office says a test is scheduled for 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19.

“The alert will be sent to compatible mobile devices, TV and radio,” read a media release. “It will be a broadcast-intrusive alert, meaning it will interrupt device use and programming, and will be identified as a test.”

The alert will also be sent through the NS Alert app. People connected to LTE or 5G networks can expect two alerts, from Alert Ready and NS Alert.
