Regiment defeat Mooseheads 7-0 to split weekend series

The Halifax Mooseheads suffered its first shutout loss of the season, falling 7-0 to split the weekend series with the Newfoundland Regiment.

The Regiment controlled the first period, scoring four times while limiting the Mooseheads to six shots. Justin Larose struck twice, while Dawson Sharkey and Louis-François Bélanger also found the back of the Halifax net. Larose set the tone early for Newfoundland, netting his 16th of the season just 16 seconds into the game.

In the second, the Mooseheads continued to struggle as Max Dinneen scored his third of the season.

Dominic Pilote and Will Reynolds added to the Newfoundland lead in the third.

With the loss, Halifax falls to 14-8-1-1 on the season.

The Regiment swept the three stars of the game. Chase Anderson earned first star with a 25-save performance. Larose was awarded second star with two goals and two assists, while third star went to Bélanger with a goal and three assists.

The Mooseheads will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 6, when they return to Scotiabank Centre to host the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., with live coverage on 95.7 NewsRadio. Garreth MacDonald hosts the pre-game show beginning at 6:30 p.m.
