Mounties ask for help solving Coldbrook robbery

RCMP in Kings County are seeking further information from the public after officers arrested two people as part of an investigation of an armed robbery in Coldbrook.

Mounties say on Feb. 16 around 3:20 p.m., officers were called to a restaurant on Hwy 1 in Coldbrook, after reports of a robbery involving an armed suspect.

Authorities say the suspect entered the restaurant, allegedly place a weapon on the counter and demanded cash from employees.

After the suspect fled, he was seen getting into a vehicle in a nearby parking lot and driving off.

A search warrant executed on Feb. 28 uncovered a variety of items believed to be involved with the robbery and arrested two suspects at a hotel in Windsor.

A 25-year-old from Kingston is charged with robbery as a party to the offence while the other suspect, a youth, is facing several charges including robbery with a firearm, wearing a disguise with intent to commit a crime and weapon possession.

Both were released on conditions pending court appearances scheduled for May.

Investigators continue to believe that information from the public can support the investigation and charges.

Anyone with information who has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact Kings District RCMP at 902-679-5555. To remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or use the P3 Tips app.
