Halifax improving access to recreation facilities with new pilot project

The municipality is launching the “one membership” pilot project.
The program aims to improve access to municipally-operated and multi-district recreation facilities by offering a discount.
People who hold an active membership at a participating facility can access other municipal recreation centres with a day pass at a discount of 75 per cent.
They need to have an annual paid-in-full or an ongoing monthly, bi-weekly or rollover membership to participate.
The pilot program was approved by council in January and staff will be monitoring usage, experience and financial impacts during the pilot and are expected to report back to council late next year.
