Mounties investigating after Truro pedestrian dies on highway

By The Canadian Press Staff

RCMP in Colchester County say a 60-year-old man from Truro has died after being struck by a vehicle.

The Mounties say officers were called to Highway 326 near Earltown on Thursday night just before 11 p.m. on Thursday where they learned a 29-year-old woman driving a Ford Edge hit the 60-year-old pedestrian.

Officers say the man, found on the roadway, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and a 19-year-old passenger in the car were not injured.

A collision reconstructionist from the RCMP was also on scene of the accident.

The investigation is ongoing with support from the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.

Highway 326 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
