Springhill suspects face charges after violent carjacking in N.B.

By The Canadian Press Staff

Two Nova Scotians are facing charges following the theft of a vehicle in New Brunswick.

According to Sackville RCMP, the incident occurred June 21, when officers were called about a victim who was allegedly carjacked while trying to get into her car near a Sackville business on Main Street.

The RCMP say a male suspect grabbed her keys, pushed her to the ground and fled the scene in her vehicle.

The victim was sent to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

The vehicle was recovered four days later and police were able to identify two suspects.

A 24-year-old man and 45-year-old woman, both from Springhill, N.S., were arrested in Sackville on June 25.

On July 2, the Nova Scotia suspects both appeared in Moncton Provincial Court, and were released from custody pending a future court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing.
