Feds help fund Antigonish’s Coady International Institute

The federal government is providing some long-term funding to the Coady International Institute in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Justice Minister Peter MacKay says Ottawa will provide 8.4 million dollars to the Coady to provide leadership and development training to more than 15-hundred men and women in developing countries.

MacKay says the project that’s being funded will focus on themes of strengthening local economies, empowering women and girls, building resilient communities focused on food security, natural resource management and promoting democracy

The funding is over five years, and the Coady must match the federal contribution with an additional 8.4 million.
