Oland preliminary hearing underway

SAINT JOHN, N.B.- Dennis Oland was accompanied by his mother Constance at the start of his preliminary hearing on a charge of second degree murder in the death of his father, well known businessman Richard Oland.

Six weeks have been set aside for the hearing which will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to send the case to trial.

A publication ban has been ordered on evidence presented at the hearing.

Oland was arrested last November but has been free on bail.

The body of the 69-year-old was found in his uptown office July 7th, 2011.
