Rockets target HMCS Charlottetown on Libya mission

A Halifax-based naval ship has been targeted off the coast of Libya.

A dozen rockets were fired at the frigate HMCS Charlottetown on Monday morning.

“Crewmembers of HMCS Charlottetown observed approximately one dozen BM-21 rockets fired at the ship,” says SLt Michael McWhinnie, Task Force Public Affairs Officer. “The rockets all fell clear and no casualties or damage to the ship resulted.”

“It is important to understand that NATO maritime forces are aware of the military weapon systems possessed by the Qadhafi regime and operate with consideration of their capabilities,” says McWhinnie.
