Double stabbing in Halifax’s north end being investigated by police

Halifax Regional Police are investigating two overnight stabbings in Halifax’s north end.

At 9:30 last night, officers found a 36-year-old man in a home on Novalea Dr. who had been stabbed several times in the abdomen.

Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs said the man was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“He has since been released from hospital and is not cooperating with the police investigation whatsoever.”

McCoombs said just a few hours later, at 2:10 a.m., they responded to another  call of a stabbing on the same street, just a block away from the first call.

“Upon arrival, we found a 44-year-old male who had multiple stab wounds to his torso,” he said. “He was taken to the QEII by ambulance with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening as well.”

Police won’t say if they have any suspects right now, but McCoombs said the two incidents were not random.

“At this time it’s believed the two incidents are related, as the two victims are known to each other.”

The 44-year-old is still in hospital at this time, and police said they are still investigating both overnight incidents.
