Peter Kelly reappears in Halifax

Multiple News 95.7 listeners report seeing former Halifax mayor Peter Kelly over the Easter weekend.

Caller Gary tells The Sheldon MacLeod Show, he saw Kelly at the popular Dartmouth fish and chip spot, John’s Lunch.

“I met the former mayor there Friday,” said Gary.

“He was there serving people.”

Gary says he spoke to Kelly for over an hour, and Kelly indicated he was planning a return to local politics.

“He’s coming to run for … mayor for Halifax in 2016,” Gary said.

Listener Lonnie James posted a photo of himself and the former mayor to the Facebook page for The Sheldon MacLeod Show.

“He has done this for years even when he was Mayor,” said James.

“I must say he has always been accessible to residents.”

John’s Lunch confirmed to News 95.7, Kelly serves fish and chips at the restaurant every year on Good Friday.

News 95.7’s efforts to reach the former mayor have been unsuccessful so far.
