Police cruiser involved in crash while responding to call

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a collision Tuesday morning involving a police cruiser.

Police say at 9:25 a.m., an officer was responding to a call of an assault in progress.

The officer was travelling south on Connaught Avenue and had the emergency lights and siren on.

As he crossed through the intersection at Chebucto Road he was hit on the passenger side by a vehicle that was travelling eastbound.

The occupant of the other vehicle was not injured and the officer was taken to hospital where he was treated and released.

It’s the second time in three days it’s happened.

On Sunday, a police vehicle on Mic Mac Blvd travelling north into the intersection with Woodland Ave with its lights and sirens going was struck by a westbound vehicle on Woodland Ave.
