HALIFAX — Environment Minister Andrew Younger has revoked the operating approval issued to Scotion Materials Ltd. for a controversial quarry near Fall River, effective immediately.
The quarry was planned for less than four hectares of land on Perrin Drive near Fall River and was initially approved back in September.
After reviewing one of the appeals filed, Younger found there was a lack of adequate public consultation prior to the decision to approve.
Reviews of the remaining appeals will continue and Younger has 60 days from the receipt of the appeal applications to make a final decision.
