HALIFAX – Halifax Harbour Bridges is reminding drivers the MacDonald Bridge closures will resume this weekend after a break for the holidays.
The old bridge will close at 7 p.m. on Friday and not re-open until Monday at 5:30 a.m., or earlier if the work is completed before then.
“We’re replacing the fourth deck segment on the MacDonald Bridge,” said Alison MacDonald with Halifax Harbour Bridges.
MacDonald said the bridge was completely open from 5:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve until Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
“It was closed just for a holiday break but now we’re back at it,” she said, adding the evening and weekend closures can be expected until at least the end of January.
Halifax Metro Transit buses will resume using the MacKay Bridge on their routes during the closures.
Pedestrians and cyclists are also reminded about the HHB shuttle bus service running between the two sides of the harbour.
