HALIFAX – Eleven Canadian Armed Forces clearance divers and support personnel are helping clear explosive remnants in the Baltic Sea this week.

The members of Fleet Diving Unit from Halifax started work yesterday alongside personnel from the Lithuania and 12 other partner nations until May 27th.

The explosives are from the First and Second World Wars.

The operation is part of a multinational naval mine clearance and ordnance disposal operation conducted on an annual basis since 1997.
