A storm made for some messy road conditions across the province on Thursday, forcing some closures and cancellations.
SCHOOLS:
NSCC's Institute of Technology Campus has closed for the day, including continuing education classes, due to a power outage
NSCC has also called off continuing education classes at their Ivany Campus
Halifax Regional School Board has closed the following schools because of power outages: Atlantic Memorial-Terence Bay (both sites), Atlantic View Elementary, Brookside Junior High, Fairview Heights Elementary (Main Building Only, Annex has power), Herring Cove Junior High, Porters Lake Elementary, Prospect Road Elementary and William King Elementary
CSAP's l'École des Beaux-Marais will close at 10:30 a.m. because of a power outage
Chignecto-Central Regional School Board has cancelled classes for the day.
Strait Regional School Board will be releasing students at 11:00 a.m.
l'École acadienne de Truro is closed for the day.
TRANSPORTATION:
Icy conditions have caused some Halifax Transit routes to go on a snow plan and/or be detoured.
The MacKay Bridge is closed to high-sided vehicles
Maritime Bus is warning passengers that service disruptions are possible; including late or cancelled buses, trips being interrupted en route and unexpected overnight stays
Many cancellations and delays at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Check your flight before heading out.
BUSINESSES:
Irving Shipbuilding’s Halifax Shipyard and Marine Fabricators facilities have closed for the day.
Some businesses may be closed or have a delayed opening due to weather conditions or power outages.
SERVICES:
Thousands of Nova Scotia Power customers were without power Wednesday morning. Check the outage map for more information.
Halifax Public Libraries says, a due to power outages, the Cole Harbour branch has a delayed opening of 1 p.m.
