Beach at Point Pleasant Park closed to swimmers

There will be no swimming at Black Rock Beach until further notice.
Halifax Regional Municipality says recent tests at the Point Pleasant Park swimming spot indicate bacteria levels have exceeded Health Canada guidelines.
“High bacteria levels can be caused by a number of factors, including weather conditions and waterfowl,” they said in a news release.
The water quality at all supervised and four unsupervised beaches in HRM is regularly tested in the summer months.
As of Thursday afternoon, Birch Cove, Kinap and Kinsman beaches also remain closed.
In addition, the municipality has also issued a risk advisory for Lake Banook and Lake Micmac due to the presence of algae blooms.
They are asking the public to avoid swimming, wading or allowing pets in the affected areas until they can confirm it's safe.
Residents can check the status of their favourite municipal beach online.
