A Halifax-based Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member is facing multiple sexual assault-related offences.

Navy Sub-Lieutenant Aidan Louise Brownlee has been charged with three counts of sexual assault, one count of assault and three counts of behaving in a disgraceful manner.

“The charges relate to reported incidents during Fall and Winter 2017 involving other members of the CAF while deployed at sea onboard the HMCS Charlottetown,” said a news release from the the Department of National Defence.

They say a third party reported a member had been inappropriately touched while the ship was near Split, Croatia, then again while ashore in Athens, Greece.

“The [Canadian Armed Forces National Investigation Service] determined there was a second victim from similar circumstances near Souda Bay, Greece.”

Brownlee is a regular force member of HMCS Toronto.

The matter is moving forward in the military justice system for possible court martial at a later date.
