Section of Highway 102 to be closed Saturday night into Sunday

By Allister Aalders

Motorists who travel along Highway 102 should be prepared to detour around a section of the busy highway Saturday night, April 13.

The 102 will be closed in both directions between the Highway 103 interchange and Dunbrack Street.

The Department of Transportation says crews will be installing bridge girders for the new interchange structure, which will replace the existing structure.

The work will require the stretch to be shutdown from 8 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday.

Inbound traffic will be detoured off the highway onto Highway 103 outbound to Exit 2B, down St. Margarets Bay Road and back onto the 103 inbound to Highway 102.

Outbound traffic will be detoured down North West Arm Drive to Albert Walker Drive and onto St. Margarets Bay Road and Highway 103 to continue through the existing interchange outbound onto the 102.

Signalized intersections along the detour route will have their lights adjusted to handle the additional traffic.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible by taking alternate routes.
