Herring Cove Road fire displaces 19 people

A fire at a 3-storey apartment building in Spryfield has displaced at least 19 people.

Authorities say the fire occurred about 3 p.m. yesterday in the 100-block of Herring Cove Road.

Officials say it was quickly contained but did cause electrical damage.

The Canadian Red Cross was called in to help the tenants get set up with emergency lodging overnight.

There were no reports of injuries and it is expected tenants may return home today following clean-up and repairs.
