Halifax police charge 4 people after seizing handgun, long gun

Halifax Regional Police have charged four people in connection to a weapons incident that took place Thursday night.

At roughly 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a weapons complaint on Harlington Crescent where officers seized a handgun and a long gun.

Three men and a woman were arrested on the scene without incident and there were no injuries.

Stewart Leon Brown, 33, Kirk Patrick Brown, 53, Robert Edward Hamilton, 54, and Tiah Christina Riego, 33, are scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Friday.

Police say they’re each facing a slew of weapons related charges including possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, unauthorized possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm, among others.

The investigation is ongoing.
