RCMP reports officer-involved shooting in Eastern Passage

A person suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot by a police officer near Halifax on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the RCMP, officers were called to reports of a physical assault at a home on Cedar Lane in Eastern Passage just before 2 p.m.

“During the RCMP response, a member discharged their firearm; a person sustained life-threatening injuries consistent with a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital,” read a media release from the RCMP. “No one else was injured.”

The incident has now been referred to Nova Scotia’s police watchdog, according to the Mounties.

Officers remained on scene on Cedar Lane on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
