MDA Space signs deal with U.S. Missile Defense Agency for SHIELD program

BRAMPTON — MDA Space Ltd. has signed a deal with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency for the Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) program.

The company has received an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract.

MDA says the award positions it to bid on future tasks and services that support the U.S. initiative.

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency works on ballistic missile defence systems for the United States and its allies.

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans for a “Golden Dome” missile defence program to protect the United States.

Shares in MDA were up $1.96 or about seven per cent at $29.10 in trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
