Two pools at the Canada Games Centre on Lacewood Drive have re-opened today after a two-week closure.
The Competition and Leisure Pool had popping tiles and grout replaced.
“Some things shift or change through heavy use,” said marketing manager Maria McGowan. “After about two, two and a half years, its not uncommon that these things happen.”
The new centre, which opened for the 2011 Canada Games, also had work done to the sauna.
“We’re replacing a lot of the wood in there,” adds McGowan. “The wood had cracked or deteriorated. As you can imagine, it’s under a lot of stress and heat, so we’re switching a lot of that out.”
Th entire centre also received a deep cleaning, fresh paint, and new signs.
