Several events planned for Natal Day long weekend

Halifax is celebrating its 118th Natal Day weekend.
The city has several events planned including a Saturday concert headlined by Joel Plaskett at Alderney Landing with Metro Transit providing free ferry service.
Monday’s parade is another highlight, which will start at 10 a.m., travelling from the Hydrostone area, down Gottingen Street, across the Macdonald Bridge to downtown Dartmouth and up Ochterloney to Sullivan’s Pond.
The Memorial Cup and the President Cup will be in the parade which will be marshalled by Mooseheads’ captain Trey Lewis.
Committee Chair Tim Rissesco tells News 95.7, the weekend will also include three fireworks shows.
“The main one in the harbour is Saturday night at 10p.m. off the Macdonald Bridge and that’s the largest show, so you’ll want to be down on the waterfront”, said Rissesco.
A second fireworks show will take place Sunday night from the Canada Games diamond on the Halifax Common and a third Monday night over Lake Banook in Dartmouth.
Expect the Macdonald Bridge to be shut down over the long weekend for events. Saturday it will be closed starting at 7:30p.m. for the fireworks display. It will also be shut down Sunday morning for the Maritime Heart Centre MACPASS Miles race and again on Monday from 7a.m. to 5p.m. for the Halifax Harbour Bridges Bridgewalk and Natal Day parade.
