You can now check the weather and the driving conditions before heading out on the Cobequid Pass.
Its tendency towards bad weather has given the pass a notorious reputation among commuters, but it’s now equipped with a webcam and weather monitoring station.
The Transportation Department tells the Chronicle-Herald the cameras were recommended after hundreds were trapped on the 104 pass over night last year.
The webcam is near the Bass River overpass on the 104.
Permanent overhead signs warning drivers about closures and weather will be operational at both ends of the pass within weeks.
