Gas prices expected to drop this week

Expect a bit of an early Christmas gift coming at the gas pump.

Our newsroom is predicting that prices will drop by about 2 cents a litre at midnight.

George Murphy of Consumers for Fair Gas Prices told News 95.7 that the drop comes at a perfect time.

“The time of the year that this is happening, it makes you believe that Santa Claus owns an oil refinery or something somewhere, because we’re getting a little bit of a gift this week.  It’s coming at the same time as probably a lot of people are starting their Christmas holiday traveling,” explained Murphy.

Murphy added a stronger Canadian dollar along with more gasoline being available on the markets is driving prices down.

Across the border in New Brunswick a significant drop at the pump overnight.

The price for regular self-serve fell by 4.2 cents a litre to a new maximum price of $127.3.
