A 44-year-old man is dead after a day-long standoff with RCMP in Colchester County.
At 8:30a.m. Sunday morning, RCMP got a call that man in a home on Highway 2 in Glenholme was threatening to harm himself.
RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae tells News 95.7 that when police tried to talk to him, he barricaded himself inside and threatened to harm himself or police.
“The RCMP requested the services of our RCMP Emergency Response Team and a negotiator,” he explains.
They tried to talk the man out all day, without success so they decided to enter the home.
At 5:45p.m., RCMP Emergency Response Team officers entered the residence and found the man dead from what is believed to have been a self-inflicted gunshot.
His name is not being released at this time pending notifications to family.
The investigation into the incident continues.
