Heavy snow, wind and rain warnings in forecast for N.L. and eastern N.S.

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — Hazardous and snowy conditions are expected in eastern Nova Scotia late Saturday evening and Sunday.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the Cape Breton and Richmond areas, forecasting between 20 and 30 centimetres of snow with snowfall starting around midnight.
Strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h are also in the forecast for Sunday, causing blowing snow and poor visibility.
The low pressure system is also expected to bring snowfall and strong winds to surrounding counties in Nova Scotia’s east.
Snowfall warnings are also in effect for much of Newfoundland and southern parts of coastal Labrador beginning on Sunday, with up to 35 centimetres anticipated in the northeast.
Wind and rainfall warnings are in effect for southern and eastern Newfoundland with snow beginning in the morning expected to change to heavy rain, leading to possible flash flooding.
