HARVEY STATION, N.B. — An early morning train derailment blocked travel through a village in southwestern New Brunswick for a few hours this morning.
Nine tanker cars derailed around 5 a.m., blocking Route 3 though the village of Harvey Station, about 35 kilometres southwest of Fredericton.
Harvey Station fire Chief Jerrad Swan says no one was hurt.
He says the tanker cars were empty except for one containing powdered lime.
Swan says some powdered lime leaked out but poses no environmental concern.
Heavy equipment and a second train engine were brought in to clear the scene.
