2019 Halifax Mooseheads – where are they now?

By Ryan Bellefontaine

Justin Barron
This 20-year-old defenceman from Halifax is currently playing for the Montreal Canadiens, and he has 2 points in 5 games after spending much of the season in the AHL. Montreal won't be making the playoffs this season, but he still felt the roar of the Montreal crowd when he scored his first NHL goal last week.

Samuel Asselin
Asselin had the most points in the 2018-19 Mooseheads regular season and had one of the Mooseheads' goals in the Memorial Cup final. An un-drafted signing for the Boston Bruins, he has 30 points in 61 games this year for their AHL affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx
Groulx will be finishing the season in San Diego, playing for the affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. However, he did get 3 points in 18 games for the Ducks earlier this season. You can bet this former 2nd round pick has an exciting future, potentially playing alongside the famous Trevor Zegras.

Arnaud Durandeau
The speedy former Mooseheads forward is a 6th round pick of the New York Islanders and has 37 points in 64 games this season for their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Raphael Lavoie
The Edmonton Oilers 2nd round pick scored for the Mooseheads in the Memorial Cup final of 2019. He currently has 26 points in 56 games for the Oilers' AHL affiliate in Bakersfield, California.

Antoine Morand
Like Asselin, Morand played for the Memorial Cup-winning Acadie-Bathurst Titan the year before playing for the Mooseheads. This season, the former 2nd round pick has 11 points in 53 games in the AHL.

Jared McIssac
The Detroit Red Wings 2nd round defenceman and a Nova Scotia native has 24 points in 67 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL.
