Dorian-related closures and cancellations for Sunday, Sept 8

We're rid of Dorian but it left plenty of damage in its wake. Here's a list of things that are closed Sunday:

TRANSPORTATION

Halifax Transit will not be running Sunday, including ferries. An update on Monday's status will come later today.

If you have to head out today, expect downed trees to block your way.

Power outages have knocked out traffic lights all over HRM. Those intersections are to be treated as a four-way stop.

As of 4 a.m., South Park St was still closed between Spring Garden Rd. and University Ave. 

The road to Peggys Cove, Lawrencetown Road, and Highway 207 from Seaforth and Chezzetcook have been closed.

Several flights at Halifax Stanfield International Airport may be cancelled or delayed, check with your airline before leaving.

People are being asked to stay away from the Halifax waterfront until repairs are complete.

Maritime Bus is operating on their regular schedule, but says there may be delays in some areas .

BUSINESSES

Irving Shipbuilding's Halifax Shipyard and Marine Fabricators are closed today for day, night and back shifts.

The Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market will remain closed Sunday.

Alderney Landing Farmers Market is closed Sunday.

Expect several businesses to be closed due to damage or power outages.

RECREATION

All provincial campgrounds, beaches and day-use parks  are closed.

Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site and Kejimkujik Seaside are closed until further notice, with an update expected at noon on Wednesday.

All municipal parks will remain closed.

The Centennial Pool is closed.

Cole Harbour Place is planning to reopen at noon on Sunday. The pool is expected to open Sunday at 1 p.m. for the Parent & Tot Swim.

Tallahassee Recreation Centre is closed.

Zatzman Sportsplex will be closed until at least noon Monday.

Other HRM recreation facilities may be closed, call ahead to your individual facility before heading out.

SCHOOLS

All public schools in Nova Scotia will be closed Monday, Sept 9

Dalhousie University and the University of King's College will remain closed for the full day Sunday as power remains out on campus.

Saint Mary's University will remain closed until 7p.m. Sunday.

NSCAD will be closed for the full day and is not accessible Sunday to staff, faculty and students.

All NSCC campuses except the residence in Truro remain closed until 6a.m. Monday.

Mount Saint Vincent University will remain closed for the full day Sunday.

SERVICES

Provincially operated visitor information centres will be closed Sunday, including the locations at the Halifax waterfront, Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Peggys Cove.

Regularly scheduled collection for Monday, Sept. 9 has been cancelled for those residents who live on the Halifax peninsula only. Collection for these residents will occur the following Monday (Sept. 16), and will include a full collection of garbage, organics, and recycling.

HEALTH CARE

Nova Scotia Health Authority says home visits for home support and nursing services may be delayed or cancelled

SPORTS

The Dalhousie/Saint Mary's Invitational cross country meet scheduled for Sunday at Point Pleasant Park has been cancelled.

MUSEUMS

Museum of Natural History will be closed on Sunday

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic will be closed on Sunday

The Discovery Centre will not be opening at it's usual time of 10 a.m., and are currently evaluating when they can open their doors.
