Ellie Black defends gold medal at Pan Am Games

By Dan Ahlstrand

Halifax's Ellie Black has successfully defended her all around gold medal at the Pan Am Games in Peru.

Black outlasted American Riley McCusker for top spot in the competition.

This is Black's second medal of the games, winning silver as part of the team event on Saturday.

She also becomes the first woman to win back-to-back individual all-round titles at the Pan Am Games, according to Team Canada.

Black is not done at the games as she will compete Tuesday in both the vault and uneven bars.

After the games in Peru, Black will continue to get ready to compete in the world championships in Germany in October.
