Emergency response exercise at Halifax’s airport Tuesday

By CityNews Halifax Staff

If you're in and around the airport Tuesday afternoon, you may see a lot of emergency vehicles, airport equipment, and personnel near the airfield.

Halifax International Airport Authority says there will be an emergency response exercise from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“It will take place at the airport’s Combined Services Complex (CSC) on Old Guysborough Road, across the airfield from the terminal building and the wooded area between the Nav Canada Control Tower and Old Guysborough Road,” the airport authority said in an email.

It won't impact local traffic, flights or any other airport operations, and signs will be put up at the roadway entrance to the air terminal building to warn the public about the exercise.

HIAA says these regular exercises take place throughout the year to test protocols, procedures, communications, and planning for emergency and security-related incidents.
