NEWS RELEASE
HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY
*************************
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that construction on phase 3 of the Halifax Ferry Terminal Refresh project will begin Monday, March 18.

This three-phase project, which began in April of 2017, will improve the Halifax Ferry Terminal interior.

Phase 3 will implement a new security and fare management kiosk in preparation for the new fare management system. Construction on this phase is expected to be completed by the end of June 2019.

Ferry operations and scheduling will continue as usual through this construction period and the impacted areas within the terminal will be separated to protect passengers and to minimize noise and dust.

Passengers will see the first signs of construction early next week, including changes to passenger waiting areas. As of Monday, Alderney passengers will wait to board the ferry in the outer passenger waiting area and Woodside passengers will wait to board the ferry in the inner passenger waiting area. Signage will be posted noting these changes. This work will also limit access to the universal washroom. All other washroom access will be maintained.

The Alderney and Woodside Ferry Terminals will also see smaller changes in order to accommodate new fare management systems. Further information on the timeline of these projects will be available in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your understanding as this work is completed.
