Free Halifax Transit rides on Fridays this summer

If you take a ride on Halifax Transit on a Friday in July and August, Halifax Regional Municipality will be picking up the tab.

Transit will be free all day, every Friday for conventional bus, Access-A-Bus, regional express service and the ferry from July 1 to August 31.

In addition, the Alderney ferry will be free all day, every Saturday during this period.

HRM says the initiative is aimed at helping businesses recover following COVID-19 “by encouraging residents and visitors to visit local businesses or access dining and entertainment around the municipality.”

The municipality is also waiving parking tickets at pay stations this summer for those who spend at least $35 at a local business.
