It's been a relatively mild winter for Halifax so far, but a winter chill is in the forecast for this week.
Temperatures are expected to drop to around -10 on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and it could be even colder than that later in the week.
“We'll have some of the coldest temperatures we've seen all season long, specifically Friday and Saturday,” explained CityNews weather specialist Denise Andreacchi. “Lows Friday could get as cold as -21 for Halifax, and highs only near -15 for Saturday.”
Andreacchi says that kind of cold can be dangerous and we could see advisories issued by Environment Canada later this week.
“It's certainly not the temperatures we see very often here, but we are heading into February. the patterns have shifted this week and we are definitely tapping into some colder air,” she said.
