With a winter storm on the way, Nova Scotia Power plans to activate its Emergency Operations Centre at 10 a.m. Friday.
It will provide a central place to coordinate planning for outage restoration and response.
NSP's storm lead, Sean Borden, said the current forecast is calling for conditions that are likely cause power outages across the province.
“Weather forecasts are calling for heavy, wet snow and high winds, beginning Friday into Saturday morning,” he said in a news release.
“As we continue to monitor the forecasts, we are positioning powerline crews and forestry teams across the province so we are ready to respond as safely and quickly as possible.”
The utility said it's a good idea to prepare for a storm by having an emergency kit with flashlights, a battery-powered radio and fresh water.
