Public Gardens to reopen after vandalism

Haligonians will be able to return to the Public Gardens on Tuesday. 

The popular downtown location is reopening after vandals damaged some 30 trees overnight Monday into Tuesday. 

Management has said it appears an axe was used, but police are still investigating. 

“Efforts are ongoing to save as many as possible,” management wrote in a tweet. “The Public Gardens will, as ever, bounce back.”

Halifax Regional Police is appealing to the public for any information in the case. In particular HRP is looking for video from the area.
