Splashifax has found a new home.
The inflatable water park will operate in collaboration with Hatfield Farm off of Hammonds Plains Rd. The new location was announced in a news release on Wednesday morning.
Co-founder David Wolpin says his group has been working for more than 18 months to make Splashifax a reality, and says Hatfield farm has a privately owned and properly zoned property that's a “perfect match” for the water park.
Splashifax was initially expected to be located in Lower Sackville's First Lake, but it was met with pushback from the community. The company said there were challenges at the location, including zoning.
Over 500 people signed an online petition to stop Splashifax from coming to the lake, citing concerns surrounding traffic, aesthetics and the environment.
Wolpin says the water park has now obtained all required permissions and permits needed to operate.
The park is expected to open on Jul. 16 and will include a floating obstacle course, a water playground and “the world's largest floating unicorn”.
