Storm closures and cancellations: Saturday, Feb. 5

Here's how the weather is impacting Halifax today.

EDUCATION:

Saint Mary's University's library and the Homburg Centre plan to open at noon.

Mount Saint Vincent University will delay the start of normal campus operations until noon.

NSCAD University campuses will reopen today at 8 a.m. 

TRANSPORTATION:

Halifax Transit bus, Access-A-Bus and ferry service will resume gradually starting at 10 a.m. All bus routes will be on Snow Plan and there may be delays & cancellations. Follow @hfxtransitalert for the latest updates.

There are some cancelled flights at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Confirm your flight status with your airline before leaving and, if your flight is still scheduled to take off, give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport.

There are power outages throughout the Halifax area, if you encounter an intersection with lights not working, treat that intersection as an all-way stop.

RECREATION:

All locations of Halifax Public Libraries will delay opening until noon.

Many municipal recreation facilities will be delaying opening until 10 a.m. Some facilities have power outages.

Discovery Centre will be closed for the morning session (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic plans to be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Museum of Natural History plans to be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Art Gallery of Nova Scotia will open at 1:00 p.m.

BUSINESSES:

Mic Mac Mall plans to open at 1 p.m.

Halifax Shopping Centre plans to open at 1 p.m.

Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market recommends checking to see which vendors will be operating today.

Some businesses may delay opening or remain closed today; it's best to call ahead or check websites and social media for specific details.

Some businesses that planned to open may be forced to close due to power outages.

SERVICES:

The St. Matthew’s United Church Warming Centre, located at 1479 Barrington St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

UTILITIES:

Nova Scotia Power customers can report outages and get estimated restoration times online at outagemap.nspower.ca or by calling 1-877-428-6004. 

Urgent water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure matters can be reported to Halifax Water's Customer Care Centre Emergency Line 24/7 at 902-420-9287.
