Structure fire in Lawrencetown destroys pizza place

By Stephen Wentzell

A structure fire in the 2600 block of Lawrencetown Road has destroyed a local pizza place.

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency district chief Stephen Turner says investigators are only in preliminary stages to determine the cause of the blaze.

“When crews arrived, they had a structure that was fully involved on one side, with its roof starting to collapse,” Turner said, adding crews continue to remain on scene, with most of the fire extinguished.

The fire, reported at 3:01 a.m. included a second structure attached to the blaze that's now facing smoke and water damage.

The fire had resulted in the closure of a section of Lawrencetown Road, however RCMP now say it has reopened.
