Halifax police say man faces first-degree murder charge in fatal attack at business

Halifax Regional Police say a 25-year-old man faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with an attack at a downtown business that left one person dead and one injured.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Brunswick Street around 9:15 a.m. Thursday following a report that a suspect had entered a business and attacked two men before fleeing on foot.

Police say a man attacked a staff member and that a 66-year-old patron was also injured when he tried to intervene.

The staff member, who was stabbed, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Police have identified the victim as 55-year-old Tony Nader.

In addition to the murder charge, police say Cymon Felix Cormier faces charges including assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
