7-year-old dies in Cumberland County after being pinned under log

A 7-year-old boy has died after being pinned under a log in Cumberland County Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Athol Forestry Coop Rd. in Southampton, west of Springhill, at around 3:30 p.m.

RCMP say the child had been playing near a log pile when he became pinned.

The Southampton Volunteer Fire Department was able to remove the log and EHS started working on the boy while waiting for Lifeflight, but Mounties say the boy died of his injuries shortly after the helicopter arrived.
