Suspect arrested in south end break-in

By Meghan Groff

A 50-year-old Halifax man is facing charges after a surveillance photo was released last week of a suspect in a south end break-in.

Police were called to South Park Street at 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19.

A woman told officers she heard some strange noises in her apartment, and when she went to check them out, she found a man in the entryway of her place.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect after getting a tip from the public.

Arlen Duane Whitty was arrested Saturday and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of break and enter and assault.
