By CityNews Halifax Staff

The Halifax Mooseheads defeated the Shawinigan Cataractes 6-4 on Friday night.

Xavier Bourgault opened up the scoring for Shawinigan early in the first period.

But the Mooseheads came back scoring four consecutive goals as Jordan Dumais picked up a pair followed by Zachary L'Heureux and Senna Peeters.

Olivier Nadeau and Mavrik Bourque responded for the Cataractes to bring them within one heading into the third period.

Elliot Desnoyers scored early in the third period to give the Herd a two goal cushion but Marek Sramaty brought Shawinigan back within one.

Zack Jones eventually scored an empty netter to seal the deal for the Mooseheads.

The Mooseheads will make their way to Moncton to take on the Wildcats on Sunday.
