There’s been a lot of changes for airport security in the past week and those changes have created confusion amongst air travelers.
Anyone heading to the United States on a plane can no longer take carry-on baggage with them. There are a few exceptions like medical devices, infant care items, coats, laptops, cameras and musical instruments.
Patrick Charette with Transport Canada says U.S. bound passengers will also get a pat-down at the security checkpoint.
“It’s important to point out that those restrictions are only in effect for U.S. bound passengers,” Charette stressed.
Meaning if you’re flying within Canada or to another country besides the United States the new restrictions don’t apply to you.
However Charette advises:
“If you don’t need a particular item just put it in your checked baggage,” said Charette. “You’ll want to facilitate, and go through the screening process easily.”
Many travelers faced daunting airport line-ups following the alleged terror attempt in the skies over Detroit on Christmas Day.
