A new campaign to have the public call 911 if they spot an impaired driver paid some dividends Monday night.
Cpl. Joe Taplin with the RCMP says they got three calls from the public last night and every one of them resulted in an arrest.
“Two of the vehicles were driving erratically, the other one the individual actually observed the person getting in the car and appeared to be drunk so they called RCMP immediately.”
A 20-year-old woman on Peggys Cove Road, a 58-year-old man on St Margarets Bay Road, and a 55-year-old woman in Lower Sackville were all arrested.
MADD Canada president Margaret Miller says the warning is clear to impaired drivers.
“When impaired driver knows they don’t just have to watch out for police being around,” says Miller.
“Now they have to lookout for their neighbours, people in the community, anyone on the highway who’s going to be observing them.”
All three drivers last night were released and will appear in court at a later date.
