Valley school workers ratify new contract with landslide approval

Nova Scotia school support staff members who almost went on strike last week seem to like the deal they got.
Annapolis Valley members voted 98 per cent in favour of the five-year deal, which gives them raises of 2.9 percent in the first three years and then one percent
in each of the last two years.
The Valley local is the first of several to vote on the deal.
More than 4,000 health care support workers outside HRM start their voting on the tentative deal this week.
Meanwhile, CUPE brass are demanding apologies from opposition leaders who said last week that the Dexter government faked tough negotiations with the union.
Metro reports both Stephen McNeil and Karen Casey are standing by their comments.
